Apple UK sales hit record £1.5bn driven by strong demand

Apple’s sales in the UK have hit a new record of £1.5bn thanks to strong demand for its top-of-the-range iPhones.

The tech giant’s UK retail arm, which includes its physical stores, saw revenues surge 61% in the 12 months to September 24 as it recovered post-pandemic after revenue dropped from £1.4bn in 2019 to £971m back in 2021.

Apple said it saw strong demand for its most expensive iPhone models, the “Pro” range, which helped to lift the company’s revenues and profits.

Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, Apple customers are seen as having higher-than-average disposable incomes, leaving them less vulnerable as the business raised the price of its UK handset amid surging inflation.

Its premium iPhone 14 Pro handset starts at £1,099 in Britain, £150 more than the iPhone 13 Pro device from the previous year.

The addition of 5G connectivity across Apple’s iPhone range in 2020 also helped to spur sales.

Apple Europe, which provides services and marketing in the region, paid out a dividend of £543.9m to its parent company.
