Card Factory has renewed and expanded its partnership with Aldi to become the supermarket chain’s exclusive supplier of cards.

The gifting specialist will now supply the German discounter’s rapidly expanding 1,200 store estate in the UK and, for the first time, Ireland with its card ranges.

Card Factory currently supplies 550 Aldi stores in the UK following its initial partnership from 2019, which saw the cards retailer launch in half of the supermarket’s stores and sharing the supplier contract with IG Design Group.

The partnership forms part of the retailer’s growth strategy to expand its physical presence across the UK.

It revealed last September that it was rolling out its concessions inside all of Matalan’s 223 branches following a successful trial of its card ranges and gifting essentials in 22 of its stores.

The announcement comes as Card Factory saw a 43% slump in pre-tax profits to £14m for the six months to 31 July, despite a 6% uptick in sales.
