Sainsbury’s is joining forces with software firm SAP to “revolutionise” its commercial systems in efforts to drive its Next Level goals.
The grocery giant is set to increase its “business agility through cloud-based solutions,” while simplifying and cost-optimising its technology estate.
SAP has been appointed to lead the design of the new solution with consulting giant Accenture cloud provider Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The supermarket said the transformation would enable future system flexibility and allow it to respond to “ever-evolving customer propositions and needs”.
It added the plans would allow it to manage its products on promotion in more flexible ways, allowing a “more tailored value experience” for shoppers.
Sainsbury’s chief food commercial officer Rhian Bartlett said: “We’re excited to be working with a brilliant partner network in SAP, Accenture and AWS to completely revolutionise our commercial systems, which are the heart and lungs of our business operations.
“This is a huge step forward in our Next Level Sainsbury’s plan, as we continue to invest in market leading technology that allows us to keep growing at pace and maintain our momentum towards becoming First choice for food.”
Sainsbury’s unveiled its Next Level strategy in February, building on the momentum of its previous ‘Food First’ plan.
CEO Simon Roberts previously claimed that the plan would help take it to the next level, noting it was “just at the beginning of rediscovering quite what this business is capable of”.
