Clothing and home retailer Primark has named Sue Fairley, who was New Look senior head of sustainability, sourcing and quality, to oversee its ethical sourcing for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA) regions.

The executive was previously in charge of New Look’s sustainability strategy, most recently serving as its head of environmental, social, and governance (ESG), sourcing and quality, Drapers reported.

Before joining New Look in 2016, Fairley also worked as head of technical at Charles Tyrwhitt from 2014 to 2016, and director of product technology at Boden from 2008 to 2014.

The exec launched her fashion retail career at Debenhams in 1988, and moved to Arcadia Group in 1999, as head of quality assurance.

Primark did not comment on the appointment.

In July, Primark chief customer officer (CCO) Michelle McEttrick stepped down from her role after almost three years to “pursue a portfolio career”.

The discount fashion giant said McEttric played a “key role in laying strong foundations for the future of the brand”.

In May, New Look also set out plans to axe up to 100 jobs from its head offices in London and Weymouth as part of a business-wide restructure.
