The absolute best…. World Cup 2026 ads

MarketingNews

The World Cup is back and with it comes the deluded English football fans who believe its coming home (it’s probably not coming home).

This year the sports event is taking place in North America, with matches in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

To celebrate (or mourn depending on how you feel about football) its return, we take a look at some of our favourite marketing drives for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Adidas

Adidas’ World Cup marketing drive starred Hollywood hotshot Timothée Chalamet (notice there were no comments from him about how “no one cares” about football.)

The five minute film also featured  Bad Bunny, Lamine Yamal, Messi, Jude Bellingham and Trinity Rodman.

Nike

Nike also brought out the stars with their World Cup offering, bringing together celebrities in film, music and sport in this six minute ad.

Eagle eyed viewers can spot Kim Kardashian, K-Pop star and the singer of this year’s World Cup song Lisa, Cristian Ronaldo and Channing Tatum among others.

Irn Bru

Scottish pop brand Irn Bru teamed up with Susan Boyle and Scottish football player John McGinn to unveil a Scotland World Cup anthem.

The song highlights the World Cup experience from eyewatering prices of tickets to getting passed security to get into the US, to the times of the games and portion sizes.

Morrisons

Morrisons is giving out free hot drinks or fizzy drinks to footfall fans from 1 June to 28 June.

It has also launched an limited edition Match Day Menu with Americana inspired burgers, loaded hot dogs and pizza.

Asda

Asda got in the game and has unveiled a series of marketing stunts ahead of the World Cup including giving away free hot drinks between 10 June and 20 July to customers named Caroline, offering them an escape from hearing a certain football anthem over and over and over again.

The retailer has also is also helping Declan’s avoid sunburn this summer after England player Declan Rice revealed he had been scolded by his mum for getting burnt following the publication of a photo showcasing him being sunburnt.

Declan’s can claim a free bottle of suncream via the Asda Rewards app until kick off for England’s first match.
