B&M has today revealed the details of a partnership with PMC to modernise its point-of-sale systems across its entire UK store estate.
The company has introduced new POS hardware and software across more than 790 stores, as part of a programme designed to ‘improve operational agility, speed up transactions and enhance the customer experience’.
The rollout replaces B&M’s legacy till systems with a more reliable and standardised platform, promising increased uptime, improved functionality and reduced checkout friction.
B&M selected PMC to deliver the transformation following a seven-year relationship between the two businesses, which has included the provision of managed IT services.
Working alongside POS provider Flooid, PMC developed a “zero-touch”, automation-led deployment model to support the rollout at scale while minimising disruption to stores.
The approach combined automated hardware builds with centralised software deployment and real-time monitoring, reducing the time required to upgrade each location and removing the need for engineers to complete installation work on site.
The full post-pilot rollout began in January 2026 and is being completed this month, supported by PMC’s development and delivery teams in the UK and India.
B&M implementation services manager David Laithwaite said: “PMC have proven experience with delivering POS solutions.
“Their collaboration and seamless coordination with our other service provider and B&M staff have been exemplary.
“The synergy in communication and a joined-up working approach across the board has significantly enhanced our operational efficiency, enabling remarkable progress with this project.”
B&M retail service delivery manager Sheila Whitfield added: “We’ve seen PMC rise to the challenge, proactively plan for the narrow time window and ramp up resources to ensure the work gets done on time.”
The new system is also intended to make tills easier for store employees to use, accelerate colleague onboarding and reduce faults across the retailer’s estate.
PMC managed services director Jake Allmond said: “By building in operational agility and more seamless checkout experiences, B&M has improved customer and colleague experiences.
“The solution will not only create friction-free and faster transactions at the tills, but will modernise B&M’s in-store technology landscape, allowing it to further enhance checkout capabilities in line with customer demands and evolving expectations.”
