Fashion brand Lucy & Yak is turning its stores into dedicated preloved hubs for a weekend this May, as it celebrates second-hand shopping with communities across the UK.
Customers will be able to bring in and return their old “Yaks,” and will receive a money-off voucher to put towards their next purchase once they have been processed.
Damaged pieces will also be able to be repaired or upcycled by the Re:Yak Studio team in Yorkshire before being sold in-store.
While Lucy & Yak stores have a dedicated preloved rail year-round, the whole shop experience will be transformed from 23 to 25 May with “a much larger, expanded preloved section”.
Shoppers will be able to purchase second-hand Lucy & Yak items over the whole weekend, with “old gems and one-off pieces” available to buy.
The preloved weekender will take place at the retailer’s stores in Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Chester, Edinburgh, Exeter, London, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Sheffield, Portsmouth and Yorkshire.
The weekender forms the latest milestone in Lucy & Yak’s broader commitment to circularity, including its (Im)Perfect sales, a Facebook Marketplace for buying, selling and swapping, and Re:Yak workshops held throughout the year.
Lucy & Yak managing director Lydia Coley said: “We’re so excited to bring the PreLoved Weekender to our stores this May.
“Lucy & Yak has always been built around community, creativity and doing things a little differently, and PreLoved brings all of that together.
“We’re incredibly proud of keeping over 42,000 Yaks in circulation. Every second-hand Yak has a story, and this weekend is about helping those pieces find their next home in a fun way.”
