Aldi has forayed into the world of fashion with its latest launch- a new ‘Swag for Life’ jacket that turns into a shopping bag.

This comes as research showed 46 per cent of UK consumers say they regularly forget to take their shopping bags for the weekly shops.

The study also highlights that 85 per cent of respondents have a bag of bags at home and 47 per cent buy another reusable bag at least once a month due to forgetting theirs. This figure rises to 69 per cent among Gen Z consumers.

Consumers in Yorkshire and Northern Ireland are the most likely to buy a new bag due to forgetting their own, with 21 per cent saying they buy a new bag at least once a week. Londoners, on the other hand, are the group most likely to go home to get a bag if they forget, with 44 per cent stating they are unwilling to add another bag to their collection.

The study shows 62 per cent of people have a favourite reusable bag they always reach for, reasoning for this includes the bag being sturdy, loving the design or having owned it for years.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Forgetting your bag for life is something we’ve all done, so our Swag For Life Jacket makes sure you’ll never be without one at the checkout again.

“It’s practical, reusable and perfectly timed for jacket season, making it the ideal shopping companion as we move into the colder months.”

The jacket is available to win via an email giveaway which launches today on the retailer’s website.
