Calvin Klein chief creative officer Raf Simons resigns

Calvin Klein’s first-ever chief creative officer Raf Simons has announced his resignation from the upmarket brand and retailer after two years in the role.

Simons said he was “amicably parting ways” with Calvin Klein after the company “decided on a new brand direction different from Simons’ creative vision”.

Simons’ New York Fashion Week shows provided Calvin Klein with increased spotlight in the industry since his February 2017 debut.

His fashion shows included many celebrities and received acclaim which awarded Simons with the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for womenswear and menswear in both 2017 and 2018.

Having previously worked at Dior and Jil Sander, Simons used his skills to prompt a European approach for the US label, often including cultural references in his designs.

Calvin Klein will not feature in the February 2019 instalment of New York Fashion Week.

Simons is currently working on his eponymous menswear label.

Calvin Klein has not yet announced a replacement.
