Brighton’s seaside shopping district is set to be given a boost when a new £100 million retail development opens next month.

Department store Hanningtons, which closed in 2015, has been converted into a new laneway development featuring 13 new stores, as well as office and residential spaces.

It’s the newest laneway precinct to join Brighton, which is known for its hub of narrow streets full of retail and dining destinations.

The Hanningtons development features large as well as independent retailers, and is expected to boost Brighton’s economy in a bid to attract new local visitors and tourists.

Retailers Kurt Geiger, Cath Kidston, Habitat, The White Company, Sandro and Maje have already opened stores in the development.

Meanwhile, Oliver Bonas is due to open next month, as well as Watches of Switzerland.
