Diesel appoints Massimo Piombini as new CEO

Diesel has appointed Massimo Piombini as its new chief executive.

Piombini joins from Balmain, where he held the same role, and will arrive at Diesel in February.

He’ll be reporting to parent company Only the Brave (OTB) and group chief executive Ubaldo Minelli.

“[Diesel is an] icon that changed the industry with its lifestyle approach, pioneering product and revolutionary communication, and a company that I recently took back to its roots, which is already giving very positive results,” founder Renzo Rosso said in a statement.

“I wish Massimo to fuel its engine and take it where it deserves to be.”

Piombini worked at Balmain as chief executive for three years, after more than a decade at Valentino as commercial director.

He also counts Bally, Bulgari and Gucci as previous employers.
