Jigsaw considers future as it plans for expansion

Jigsaw is planning to add 65 stores to its estate over the next five years.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Jigsaw Chief Executive Peter Ruis said that Jigsaw aims to increase its revenues from £100m to £500m.

The clothing chain currently has only 5 menswear stores, a figure that it plans to quadruple. There are also plans to add 10 womenswear stores to the estate every year for the next five years, bringing the total number to 125. Ruis himself emphasised the growth prospects in Switzerland in Australia, where the chain currently has five stores.

When asked, Ruis denied that Jigsaw was exploring a sale. However, he admitted that the chain‘s founder John Robinson would, at some point, seek to sell his 80% stake in the business. He also suggested that, in the event of exploring such an avenue, a stock market flotation may suit the business better, as all employees currently have a share in Jigsaw. According to Ruis, this path would help secure a “sustainable future” for premium retailer.
