Aldi has been rated as the UK’s favourite supermarket, according to the latest polling data from YouGov.

The discounter was ranked ahead of M&S, Tesco and Sainsbury’s in the study.

In the YouGov poll, popularity is based on the percentage of people who have a positive opinion of the supermarket chain.

Aldi came out top at 76 per cent, followed by M&S Food at 75 per cent, Lidl at 73 per cent, the Co-op food at 71 per cent and Morrisons at 69 per cent.

Aldi communications director Richard Thornton said: “British shoppers know that Aldi is the only supermarket to offer an unbeatable combination of high-quality products at low prices. This is something that’s becoming increasingly important for households faced with rising fuel and energy costs.”

We’re currently gearing up for our biggest and best ever Christmas and look forward to helping our customers enjoy the seasonal celebrations they deserve this year, at prices they can afford.”

The discounter is also currently in the middle of a major recruitment campaign in which it will create 1,500 seasonal Christmas jobs across the country as it opens an average of one new store per week.
