Poundland owner Pepco is moving its UK buying operations for clothing brand Pep&Co to its Polish head office.

The retailer plans to transition to one brand and range of clothing in addition to general merchandise across Pepco Group between now and mid-2024.

There are currently around 80 employees across different roles at the UK head office in Watford, but Poundland has not revealed the exact size of the UK buying team, Drapers reported.

Meanwhile, affected employees in the UK will be offered alternative positions within the group’s UK-based retailer Poundland.

Poundland has nearly 850 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Within the UK it has rolled out its Pep&Co women’s, men’s and children’s wear to around 400 of its larger stores.

In July, Pepco Group posted a 17.1% rise in third-quarter revenue to £1 billion in the three months ended June 30, with like-for-like sales up 4.9%.

The group is on track to launch 450 net new stores in fiscal 2022.

Poundland said moving to a single Pepco brand will allow it to take advantage of the group’s strength and scale.
