HMV has reopened the doors to its Oxford Street flagship today after a four-year absence.

Spanning across three floors, the 10,500 sq ft space houses the music retailer’s extensive vinyl, CD, DVD and pop culture merchandise ranges.

The store, which stocks over 35,000 products, also includes a performance space on the first floor, playing host to exclusive performances.

Shoppers can browse 8,000 different vinyl albums on the lower floor, while the store will also stock 12,000 different CDs and a wide range of music technology.

The ground floor is dedicated to pop culture merchandise, spanning from Funko Pop figurines, plushies from Kenji to posters and clothing.

Meanwhile, the upper floor is a library of DVDs and a collection of fiction books.

The entertainment retailer vacated the site in 2019 after new owner Doug Putman, who saved the business from collapse, was unable to strike a deal with the store landlord.

Putman said: “I want our stores to be at the heart of a community of music and film fans and a place where they can not only satisfy their passion, they can also meet each other and discover new artists as well as see some of the biggest names in the business perform.

“363 Oxford Street is a homecoming for the brand and a clear statement about the strength of hmv, of London as a shopping destination and the state of music in the UK, so I can’t wait to welcome the fans through our doors.”
