AS Watson has promoted Mark Peaker to supply chain director for Superdrug and Savers as it looks to strengthen operations across both retailers and support their next phase of growth.

Peaker has spent the past six years at Superdrug as head of commercial finance. Before joining the health and beauty chain, he was head of finance transformation at the John Lewis Partnership, where he worked on major projects focused on operational efficiency, productivity and investment in technology infrastructure.

In his new role, Peaker will oversee supply chain operations across Superdrug and Savers, with a focus on strengthening the network to better support online and in-store demand and positioning the function as a driver of future growth.

Superdrug chief executive and AS Watson Health & Beauty UK director Peter Macnab said: “Supply chain is a key part of our business, underpinning everything from store availability to our ability to support continued growth.

“It plays a critical role in ensuring we deliver a consistent, quality experience for our customers, wherever and however they choose to shop with us.

“Mark’s combination of commercial expertise and operational insight makes him exceptionally well placed to lead this function as we continue to strengthen and develop our supply chain operations across both Superdrug and Savers.”

Peaker said his priority would be building a supply chain equipped to support future expansion across the two retailers.

“My focus is on building a supply chain that is efficient, resilient and capable of driving the next phase of growth,” he said.

“That means ensuring we have the right people, processes and technology in place, so our operations run smoothly and at pace, enabling the business to scale with confidence and deliver for customers across every channel.”

The appointment follows the recent departure of Chris Warn, who left AS Watson earlier in March after four years as supply chain director for Superdrug and Savers.

Warn is set to join M&S as supply chain operations director. In a LinkedIn post announcing his departure, he said: “After four fantastic years, today marks my last day at A.S. Watson. It’s been a privilege to work with so many great people and support the huge success that Superdrug and Savers have delivered during this time.”

He added: “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities, the collaboration, and the fun along the way. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey. I am hugely excited to start the next chapter after Easter and join a truly iconic brand as Supply Chain Operations Director. It’s not just any new job, it’s an M&S new job.”

Interview: How Stripe & Stare co-founder Katie Lopes built a £5.5m underwear brand from a Devon farmhouse

Katie Lopes has spent nearly two decades trying to reinvent one of retail’s most overlooked categories. As co-founder of Stripe & Stare, the British underwear label built on comfort and cleaner fibres, Lopes sat down with Retail Gazette to talk about how she has grown the business from a Devon farmhouse start-up into a fast-scaling direct-to-consumer brand navigating supply-chain shocks, tougher green rules and rising competition.

When Katie Lopes launched Stripe & Stare in 2017, the business began in her Devon farmhouse, with stock piled among her children’s Lego. Today, the underwear label operates from a 30,000 sq ft warehouse in Devon, complete with cherry pickers and a team of 20 to 25 staff. It is a far cry from what she describes as the “shoebox office” that followed those early kitchen-table years.
