US president Donald Trump has set a deadline of 8pm Eastern Time on Tuesday 7 April to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global supply chain route, warning of military strikes on infrastructure if the demand is not met.

Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, in an expletive-laden post, Trump issued a warning to Iran he would unleash ‘hell’ if his demands were not met.

The post read: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP””

Later, the US president posted again, clarifying the deadline as: “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!”

However it is not the first time the US leader has issued deadlines for the reopening of the strait. On 21 March, Trump said Iran’s power plants would be “obliterated” if the Strait was not “FULLY OPEN” within 48 hours, before extending the deadline by a further 10 days to 6 April.

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed since February 28, following initial military strikes on Iran by the US and Israel, disrupting a key global shipping and energy route.

Iran’s president’s office spokesman Mahdi Tabatabaei said the Strait of Hormuz “will be reopened” when “a portion of transit tolls is used to compensate for all the damage caused” by the war.

Meanwhile, today Israel has also issued warnings on it’s military’s Farsi social media account, to Iranian citizens to refrain from traveling by train throughout the country “for the sake of your security” as it “endangers your life”.
