Boots is extending on-demand delivery hours to midnight across 25 more locations as football fans turn to rapid delivery for match-day essentials.
The health and beauty retailer said new data from Boots and Deliveroo showed rising demand around England matches, with shoppers ordering products to homes and pubs rather than leaving the game to visit stores.
Boots said suncare SPF orders rose sharply in the hours before England games, while hayfever tablet orders were up more than 80 per cent as fans watched matches outdoors during warm summer evenings.
Ibuprofen orders also rose more than 50 per cent the morning after England’s game against Croatia, as shoppers sought recovery products following late-night celebrations.
The retailer is now offering extended delivery hours up to midnight via Deliveroo in 25 additional locations across the UK, including London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
Boots chief digital and data officer Paula Bobbett said: “There’s no ‘nipping to the shops’ in the 75th minute of the England game, but we get that some things can’t wait and convenience matters – from a nappy blow-out emergency or a last-minute beauty fix ahead of celebrations.
“Now Boots can come to you, wherever you are with more evening and late-night delivery options for customers across the country.”
Deliveroo vice president of consumer and new verticals Suzy McClintock said football tournaments had a “unique way of keeping the nation glued to their screens”.
“Nobody wants to risk missing a goal because they had to nip out for essentials,” she said.
“By extending our late-night delivery service with Boots to 25 new locations, we’re making it easier than ever for fans to get what they need, when they need it.”
