Leon has joined rival Pret A Manger in launching a coffee subscription service.

Roast Rewards will cost subscribers £25 a month and will include up to five hot drinks per day with 20% off breakfast and lunch items, excluding meal deals, The Telegraph reported.

Users will also be able to earn points through Leon’s loyalty scheme, as well as gain access to other perks and discounts.

The fast food chain said it was responding to the changing habits of consumers, who increasingly look for convenience and quality in their daily coffee.

Leon managing director Mac Plumpton said: “We’re so excited to unveil the UK’s most affordable coffee subscription.

“Get ready for a service packed with flavour, value and great coffee. At Leon we’re all about providing exceptional experiences at an unbeatable value.”

It comes as rival Pret A Manger recently came under fire for its coffee subscription, having hiked the monthly fee of Club Pret up to £30 last year and making users log in to their app each time they wish to redeem the discount.

The chain was forced to refund some of its subscribers last month after the crackdown on membership sharing left many unable to use its app.
