Majestic Wine has announced the appointment of former Sainsbury’s and Oddbins buyer Julie Buckley as its new senior buyer.
A Spanish wine expert, Buckley will be responsible for some of Majestic Wine‘s best selling categories; managing New Zealand, Spain and Burgundy for the UK retailer.
With over 10 years of wine buying experience under her belt — eight of which were spent with Sainsbury’s and Oddbins — Buckley was hired because of her proven track record in own-label and parcel buying.

“There‘s nothing Julie doesn‘t know about Spanish wine, this will be her third senior position buying the category,” Majestic’s buying and merchandising director Richard Weaver said.
“‘That, coupled with her dynamic approach and industry expertise, made her the ideal candidate.”
Majestic Wine also said Joe Aylmer has been promoted to buyer from buying assistant and will take responsibility for South America, the Rhône, Portugal, fortified wines and wine magnums.
