A new cashless society is drawing ever closer as Apple announced it will sell WorldPay Zinc mobile pay-as-you-go Chip & PIN keypads in-store across the UK.

WorldPay Zinc, which costs £59.99, enables sole traders and mobile businesses to take secure card payments on the go which can reduce the time spent chasing payments.

The mobile point-of-sale (MPoS) market is set to grow over the next 12 months, as uptake increases amongst the UK‘s four million micro businesses and sole traders.

The pay as you go service takes 2.75 per cent per card payment, uses Chip and PIN technology and also allows businesses to accept payments over the phone via an online portal.

Geraldine Wilson, Managing Director of WorldPay Zinc, commented: “This represents a really exciting moment in the growth of mobile card payment acceptance. We‘re thrilled to make WorldPay Zinc available to the millions of sole traders and small business owners in the UK who use and trust iPad and iPhone to support them in running their businesses.”

To coincide with the release, WorldPay Zinc is also launching a new, optimized app for iPad.
