The Furby Boom is expected to be the best selling children‘s toy this Christmas, according to market research firm ICM.

Its survey, of 2,025, found over one in ten (11 per cent) are putting their money on the Furby to come out on top at the festive tills.

The LEGO Star Wars R2D2 is expected to be the second most popular toy with 7 per cent predicting it will be the top selling kids‘ toy in the race for the coveted Christmas toy top spot.

Coming in third is the Teksta Robotic Puppy, with 5 per cent of respondents saying that this electric pet from Character Options will jump in as the top selling festive kids‘ toy.

Just missing out on a podium position is the InnoTab 3S from VTech, with 4 per cent of those polled predicting that this tablet for children will be the top selling kids‘ toy this yuletide. And completing the top five is Disney‘s The First Talking Sofia Doll and Animal Friends, also with 4 per cent of the votes for the top selling children‘s toy predictions this Christmas.

Looking at the results based on responses just for those with children aged 18 and under, IGM found Hasbro‘s Furby Boom is predicted to be the best-selling kids‘ toy this Christmas by 20 per cent of those with kids aged 5-10 and 14 per cent of those with kids aged 11-15. Respondents with children aged 16-18 are most likely to think that the Teksta Robotic Puppy will take the top selling kids‘ toy spot this Christmas (10 per cent). And for those with kids under 5, responders are most likely to say that they expect VTech‘s InnoTab 3S to be the best-selling children‘s toy this festive season (12 per cent).

Martin Boon, Director at ICM, says: “Our fourth survey in the 12 Surveys of Christmas series shines a light on the much-anticipated predictions for top selling kids‘ toy this Christmas. Whilst Hasbro‘s Furby Boom is expected to be the overall winner at the yuletide tills, there are some variances when we look at predictions from those with kids aged 16-18 and under 5 – with robotic puppies and tablets for tots predicted to take the top spot for best-selling children‘s toy this Christmas.”
