Amazon has expanded its Prime Now delivery service in the UK to include express delivery of high-end health and beauty products or top-shelf alcohol.

Customers in selected London postcodes can now use Amazon Prime to purchase health, wellbeing and beauty products from John Bell & Croyden – pharmacists to The Queen – or drinks from Spirited Wines.

When ordering within the Amazon Prime Now app, customers can browse and purchases items from their local store.

Members can then choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots at no extra charge between 8am and 10pm.

“Local store delivery through Prime Now will expand to more shops and more customers in the future,” Prime Now EU director Mariangela Marseglia said.

Today‘s announcement further increases the existing Prime Now offer in London, which already includes more than 15,000 Amazon products, plus access to AmazonFresh for groceries and more than 180 eateries via Amazon Restaurants. 

Prime Now launched in London in June 2015, and has expanded around the country to reach more than 30 per cent of the UK population.

In the US, Amazon began advertising for home assistants, sparking rumours it was poised to launch its own housekeeping service.
