House of Fraser has said it would reveal its new chief executive by the end of April, replacing Nigel Oddy who resigned last October.

The news comes as the department store chain posted mostly positive results in its annual report yesterday, including a skyrocketing rise in pre-tax profits from £1.3 million to £3.4 million.

Chief financial officer Colin Elliot said the search for a new boss for the retailer was “almost at the point” of being confirmed.

“There will be an announcement by the end of the month. We‘re very pleased [with the appointment],” he said.
