House of Fraser appoints Paddy Earnshaw as marketing chief

House of Fraser has announced the appointment of Paddy Earnshaw as its new chief marketing officer.

Earnshaw will begin as chief customer officer David Walmsley departs the retailer, and he joins from Doddle, where he has been the chief customer officer for the last three years.

Walmsley joined the House of Fraser in August 2016 from Marks & Spencer, where he was digital director for five years.

Earnshaw’s appointment to the role is the latest in a string of recent high-profile changes at the department store throughout summer, which includes Alex Williamson beginning his tenure as chief executive and Michelle Maynard stepping into the chief people officer role, while Edwin Blanchard became digital director after the departure of David Seeby.

Earnshaw started his career at Travelex as UK retail marketing manager, before taking on the role of head of marketing and communications for the whole company and subsequently customer director.

He has also held a number of other senior positions throughout his career, including chief customer officer at Worldpay, with responsibility for 40 per cent of the UK‘s daily card transactions.

At House of Fraser, Earnshaw  will be responsible for all of its marketing, both online and offline, and will be instrumental in the ongoing development”Ž of the retailer’s ecommerce offering.

He joins the company at the end of October and will report directly to chief executive Alex Willamson.

“Paddy brings a wealth of digital, retail and online experience to House of Fraser and is one of the brightest, most innovative marketeers in our sector with a strong track record of delivering results at pace,” Williamson said.

“He has always shown a real focus on customers in his previous roles and will bring a huge amount to our overall customer proposition.

“Paddy has worked in entrepreneurial environments throughout his career with significant competition for every customer, where both detail and creativity are vital.

“With his strong skills and experience, Paddy will be a valuable asset to our transformation programme.”

Earnshaw added: “I look forward to working with Alex and the executive team as we continue to build on our newly relaunched online business to deliver a best-in-class customer journey and keep innovating to stay ahead of the pack and further enhance the customer experience.”
