If you strolled through Birmingham’s Grand Central recently, a shop that seemed heavy with 1980s video gaming paraphernalia may have snatched your attention.

The store in question, Tucker’s Newsagent & Games, is a real-life recreation of the game store from Netflix’s choose-your-own-adventure drama Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

The 1196sq ft Grand Central unit, located between Nando’s and Holy Moly Macaroni, was chosen as one of two Bandersnatch pop-ups that Netflix orchestrated in the UK.

The store offered a window into the dystopian world of the psychological thriller to the hustle and bustle of Grand Central, attracting fans and considerable interest from centre visitors as it did so.

Bandersnatch is the latest instalment in Charlie Brooker’s acclaimed Black Mirror anthology that explores the rise of technology, free will, and the impact of innovation on mental health.
