N Brown hires former Very Group finance chief as new CFO

N Brown Group has hired former Very Group executive Dominic Appleton as its chief financial officer designate.

The group, which owns JD Williams and Simply Be, said Appleton will join office on 1 March 2023, replacing Rachel Izzard.

He has spent a total of 10 years at The Very Group where he was most recently group finance director. He has also previously held chief financial officer roles at Victoria Plum and Hotter Shoes.

Izzard will work with N Brown Group CEO Steve Johnson to ensure an orderly handover to Appleton.

Johnson said: “We are delighted to welcome Dominic to the N Brown team. His considerable expertise and experience gained in consumer businesses, particularly in digital retail and financial services, will make him a key addition to the executive management team.”

Appleton said: “I’m excited to be joining Steve and the N Brown team next month. I have admired N Brown for some time for their inclusive vision and I’m very much looking forward to supporting the strategic transformation journey of this great business.”
