The Entertainer to hire 800 workers this festive period

The Entertainer is set to employ 800 new store staff this Christmas to help meet demand during the busy trading period.

The toy retailer is offering contracts, which vary from 8 to 20 hours per week, for seasonal sales assistants and night stock assistants across its UK network.

It said the roles are suitable for those seeking flexible shifts and extra income over the busy festive period.

Night stock assistants will initially begin on a 20-hour contract before increasing to 37.5 hours per week as Christmas draws closer, the toy retailer said.

It added that some temporary employees may be offered the opportunity to apply for permanent positions once their contract comes to an end.

The Entertainer announced last month that it had hired former John Lewis chief operating officer Andrew Murphy as its new chief executive.

Murphy, who resigned from the Partnership after 30 years, replaced Mark Campbell who left the toy retailer this summer.
