Superdrug marks 60th anniversary with new range and in-store events

Superdrug is marking its 60th birthday with celebrations taking place throughout this month and June.

The health and beauty retailer will be holding in-store activations alongside the launch of a limited edition birthday range, 60th birthday products from exclusive brands, offers and prices and more.

Superdrug Health & Beauty Card members will be able to bag 60% off own brand and exclusive ranges from today (22 May), while members will earn 600 points on any online purchase over £60 made today.

Stores across the country will also offer make-up artist and hair stylist appointments to shoppers, and host live in-store DJs and celebrity visits.

The business will be taking a look back through the decades with a campaign shoot, featuring influencers such as Princess Andre and Louise Boyce, to showcase the evolution of beauty looks over the past 60 years.

To mark the milestone, Superdrug is bringing back old beauty products for a limited time, such as its 90s Rimmel’s Heather and Coffee Shimmer lipsticks.

The retailer is also launching a limited edition 60th Birthday range, reducing certain everyday essentials to 60p, and gifting one million shoppers a free cosmetics product with purchase under the anniversary event.

Superdrug chief commercial officer Simon Comins said: “From our humble beginnings on Putney high-street to becoming a nationally recognised brand, 60 years is an incredible landmark for us.

“We are looking forward to celebrating our birthday with our customers as we know without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Last week, Superdrug kicked off a major investment into its bricks-and-mortar portfolio, with plans to open 25 new locations and refit 60 existing stores this year.

The health and beauty retailer is enhancing the physical shopping experience for customers with “bigger and better store formats in prime retail destinations”.
