Guess deploys 127 warehouse robots to ramp up fulfilment

Fashion retailer Guess has bolstered its automated fulfilment system with the deployment of 127 warehouse robots at its GXO Logistics Venlo, Netherlands facility.

The Skypod system, supplied by warehouse robotics specialist Exotec, includes 60,000 rack locations, eight goods-to-person picking stations and 200 metres of conveyor infrastructure.

The system can process up to 70,000 pieces a day and handle up to 2,200 order lines per hour during peak periods, increasing GXO’s capacity to fulfil orders for Guess across EMEA and Asia.

GXO manages inbound logistics and value-added services for the premium fashion brand at the Venlo site, including quality control and garment conditioning, as well as outbound distribution.

The companies said the automation has been designed to address the demands of fashion fulfilment, with challenges including high SKU volumes, seasonal fluctuations and changing customer requirements.

“The impact has been evident from day one,” said GXO Venlo operations manager Mark Donné.

“Our automated solution with Exotec, tailored specifically for Guess, has helped take our operation to the next level, enabling faster processing, greater predictability and a smoother workflow across the site.

“As our business with Guess continues to grow, we have the scalability and flexibility needed to support future demand.”
