Internet and catalogue home shopping retail business N Brown Group has poached The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) CEO Angela Spindler as it eyes further online and international growth.

Spindler has been with the non-food convenience retailer since 2009 and has previously held positions at Coca Cola, Asda and Debenhams, working across marketing, sales and retail development.

Joining N Brown before July, Spindler will succeed retiring chief Alan White, who has been with the retailer for 25 years and operated a CEO for a decade.

The move follows senior changes made at the group in July last year, when Chairman Lord Alliance announced his decision to stand down from the company after 40 years.

Remaining a major shareholder and non-Executive director, Lord Alliance was succeeded by ex-Tesco Director Andrew Higginson, who expressed his excitement at the latest appointment.

“We are delighted that Angela has decided to join N Brown and lead it through the next phase of its exciting growth.

“She brings a tremendous breadth of experience to the role, most recently as a successful CEO, and the Board firmly believes she has the personal qualities to lead the team, and the business, as it continues its growth online and internationally.

“I would like to say a particular thank you to Alan White, who has helped me to settle in, and who will stay on to ensure a proper handover to Angela.”

Spindler will also support the handover to the new CEO of TOFS, for whom the search is already underway.

During her tenure at the company, which last week announced a total sales rise of 10 per cent during the crucial festive period, Spindler oversaw a large expansion programme which helped boost sales and she believes that the retailer‘s success highlights the importance of value for money.

Spindler commented: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Original Factory Shop. The unique retailing proposition provides customers access to well-known brands at great prices.

“I look forward to seeing the company enjoy future growth as the high-street continues to embrace value retailing.

“N Brown is a fabulous business which has been very successfully adapted to benefit from the multichannel retail revolution.

“The business has some excellent brands and is well placed to deliver growth both in the UK and Internationally. I am delighted to be joining.”
