Selfridges launches ‘Swap Shop’ in Oxford Street flagship

Selfridges is teaming up with fashion rental firm Loanhood to launch a “Swap Shop” selling secondhand clothes.

Customers will be able to exchange their unwanted clothing for stamps, which they can then use to “shop” for new pre-loved clothes.

The Swap Shop will open at The Selfridges Lounge in Oxford Street, London, and will run from 10 to 30 July.

Shoppers can bring along up to five garments to trade in, with a resale value worth between £50 and £300.

The value of the items will be determined depending on their brand, type, and condition.

The initiative, which aims to increase the lifespan of clothes, comes under Selfridges’ ‘Worn Again’ concept, a season of secondhand and circular shopping events at the retailer.

The business will also be holding a series of evening swap shop slots called “Thursday Lates”, which will feature workshops with an upcycler, drinks, shopping and a DJ. All money raised from the events will be donated to Oxfam.
