Secret Sales strengthens leadership team with new chief digital officer

Secret Sales has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of both a new chief digital officer and chief marketing officer.

Matalan ecommerce director Chris Lacey takes the newly created CDO role, where he will be responsible for driving platform growth and international expansion.

Lacey, who previously worked as digital director of Superdry, will work closely with all business departments and report to CEO Chris Griffin.

Additionally, the online retailer has promoted SVP of digital marketing Alex Adamson to CMO.

Adamson joins the firm’s executive board and will be tasked with building out a wider marketing and digital strategy.

The news comes as Secret Sales marks a new chapter of growth and accelerates its European expansion strategy.

Secret Sales CEO Chris Griffin says: “As we enter 2024, it’s critical for us to move quickly to keep pace with the strong appetite we’re seeing for off-price from our retailer and brand partners so we can help them expand into new European territories.

“This is why the time is right to strengthen our leadership team to help us deliver on our vision to positively disrupt the world of off-price”.

Earlier this year, the business hired former Ted Baker CIO Leon Shepherd as its new chief technology officer, as it prepared to invest in its technology to fuel global growth.
