Aldi has named London bus driver Ricki Reid as ‘Ambassador of Joy’ of the retailer’s Finsbury Park branch, after he was asked to stop blowing bubbles on his bus route.

Reid was well known for blowing bubbles on his route between Finsbury Park and Whitechapel and was particularly popular with younger passengers, who reportedly named his service “the bubble bus”.

He visited the store on 20 August 2026, greeting customers as they arrived.

Aldi will also be making a donation to The Bubble Foundation, which supports children and infants who are born with severe, life-threatening immune deficiencies.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Ricki is a real pillar of his local community and has brought so much joy to Londoners over the years, so what better way to celebrate him than by making him our Ambassador of Joy at a store he passes every day?

“We’re delighted to help keep the smiles – and bubbles – going, while also supporting the brilliant work of The Bubble Foundation and the families it helps.”
