New research has shown that one Harry Potter toy is sold every five minutes in the UK, with retailers Lego, Smyths Toys, Hamleys, Argos, Asda and Amazon being one of the biggest sellers.

In the 12 months to May 2019, Harry Potter toys have contributed to sales reaching £44 million in retail, according to the latest analysis by The NPD Group.

NPD also found that 24 per cent of the buyers are aged over 18 years old.

Meanwhile, Lego has been found to sell the best-selling Harry Potter toy – the Hogwarts Great Hall – which retails for £83.

One of the largest toy retailers in the world – Hamleys – has dedicated its London Regent Street store’s lower ground floor to Harry Potter merchandise, while grocer Asda has dedicated half of its George clothing division to selling Harry Potter apparel, as well as costumes.
