Tesco’s ‘Kids Eat Free’ scheme returns over Christmas holidays

// Tesco is bringing back its Kids Eat Free scheme between Boxing Day and 6 January
// The grocer expects to have given over 400,000 free meals since launching the initiative in July

Tesco’s Kids Eat Free initiative will return to its cafés this Christmas to provide a “little extra support” for families over the break amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The scheme will return to the supermarket’s 312 cafés across the UK between Boxing Day and 6 January.

Tesco cafes will be offering one free Kids Breakfast, Kids Hot Meal Deal or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal when an adult buys items priced as little as 60p and shows their Clubcard at the till.

Tesco chief executive Jason Tarry said: “We are pleased to bring back our Kids Eat Free initiative in Tesco Cafés, offering a little extra support over the Christmas holidays.

“We want to help parents and carers to provide children with nutritious food – saving them some money at a time when budgets are tighter than ever.

“Children can get a balanced meal and hopefully get into the Christmas spirit too.”

The Big 4 grocer first launched its Kids Eat Free scheme in July to help families amid the rising cost-of-living giving away free meals for over 260,000 children, which it brought back for the October half term.

Across 2022, Tesco expects to have given away more than 400,000 free meals to children during school holidays.
