Superdrug hires former Lloyds Pharmacy exec as healthcare director

Superdrug has poached Lloyds Pharmacy executive Ghada Beal as its new healthcare director.

Beal brings 28 years of experience in retail and pharmacy to the role, most recently serving as Lloyds Pharmacy’s retail and pharmacy services director.

She also spent four years as Walgreen Boots Alliance as director of stores.

Beal will take up her role from 7 August, replacing interim healthcare director Caris Newson, who will become Superdrug’s head of ecommerce.

Beal said: “My background as a pharmacist has meant that health and wellbeing has always been essential to me and I’m keen to continue developing the ways in which Superdrug supports the diverse healthcare needs of all communities”.

The news comes as the retailer plans to invest in 25 new stores and refit 70 of its shops this year.

The larger stores will also offer customers an extensive range of beauty treatments, as well as access to essential healthcare services through pharmacies and nurse clinics.

As part of its plans, Superdrug will also be refitting 70 stores through a series of updates that will include the installation of new shop fronts, fully recyclable signage and improved flooring and ceiling tiles made from bio-soluble mineral wool, clay and starch.

Earlier this week, the health and beauty company named deals expert and TV presenter Chloe Carmichael as its new cost-of-living ambassador.
