Topshop has transformed its flagship Oxford Street store into a virtual water park to mark the start of summer.
From May 25 to June 4 a virtual reality waterslide will be available for all customers to try out. Starting out at the top of a fictional flume, complete with an inflatable rubber ring, the user will don a VR headset and be flung through the “high intensity ride”.
The ride will take them through computer generated, Topshop themed streets of London in a full 360-degree waterslide experience.
Meanwhile the rest of the store will be fitted with twisting plastic waterslide pipes, the shop’s main window will be transformed into an interactive pool, and an exclusive Topshop Snapchat lens will be available from May 27.
“Topshop Oxford Street has one of the most prominent store fronts in the world and we are excited to offer our consumers the opportunity to be part of it with an exhilarating VR experience,” Topshop global marketing director Sheena Sauvaire said.
“As VR technology continues to advance our desire was to blend it with retail theatre to create an immersive and shareable experience for our consumers, as a fun way to celebrate the start of summer.”
